Essential Oil Rituals — The Power of Plants at Yama Balian

The Power of Plants — Essential Oils & Everyday Rituals

Scents that ground us. Scents that open us. Scents that bring us home.

At Yama, essential oil rituals are part of how we return to presence. The air holds more than silence — it carries the scent of lemongrass after rain, of fresh ground vetiver, of coconut oil warmed by the sun.

We believe these small, sensory details are not decoration — they are the experience.

Essential oils have long been used as natural allies in traditional healing. They soothe the nervous system, uplift the mood, awaken the senses, and reconnect us to nature. When we apply them to the skin, diffuse them in a room, or wear them in a roll-on, we’re engaging in an ancient conversation between body and earth.

Beyond their physical benefits, essential oils hold emotional resonance. Lavender can anchor you into sleep, eucalyptus can clear not just your breath, but your mind. Frankincense still carries the ceremonial weight of centuries.

Explore the power of essential oils in daily rituals, from roll-ons to candles, and discover our hands-on scent alchemy workshop at Yama Balian.

Roll-ons & Candles: Rituals Made Simple

One of the most accessible ways to enjoy essential oils is through personal roll-ons — small, portable blends you can apply to your wrists, neck, or temples. Each blend can be crafted for a different intention: calm, energy, focus, or grounding.

Similarly, candles infused with pure essential oils can change the entire mood of a space. At Yama, our rooms and ceremony spaces are often scented with gentle, earthy blends to invite presence and openness. A candle is not just light — it’s atmosphere, memory, and a moment to pause.

Crafting Your Own Scents: The Anashi Workshop

To deepen our guests’ connection with this plant wisdom, we’ve partnered with Anashi Escents to offer a unique hands-on workshop for retreat leaders and their groups. In this session, participants learn how to create their own personalized roll-ons using pure essential oils and intuitively chosen blends.

It’s a ritual in itself — one that connects you with the plant world, your body, and your intention.

Whether you’re a retreat leader or simply someone seeking more presence in your day, we invite you to explore this ever-relevant world of essential oil rituals.
