Retreat leader, yoga teacher, and returning soul to Yama Balian.
Some people stumble upon Yama. Others find it again — like an old friend — and know it’s time.
This month, we’re honored to welcome Jac Keleher, who first discovered Yama Balian years ago while assisting at a meditation retreat. The experience left a lasting impression.
“I fell in love with the atmosphere,” she shares. “There’s something about Yama that just stays with you.”
Now, Jac returns — not as a participant, but as a retreat host, holding space for her own community.
Why Balian, not Ubud or Canggu?
“Because Balian feels like the real Bali. It has the spirit of how Bali used to be. That’s so inspiring.”
Jac is drawn to Yama’s sense of authenticity and community — a place where connection flows naturally and the pace of life slows to match the rhythm of nature.
How would you describe the energy of Yama?
“Yama is calm. Tranquil. You feel like you’re moving in sync with the natural world.”
It’s a feeling many of our guests echo — that sense of quiet integration into the jungle, the breeze, the river. It’s not just a venue, it’s a state of being.
What advice would you give to a retreat leader considering Yama?
“Come with the intention to enjoy. Leave your worries behind. The Yama team takes care of everything — they make sure your retreat flows beautifully.”
She smiles, knowing firsthand how effortless it is to host when you’re supported by a grounded, loving team.
A powerful memory?
“The water ceremonyMelukat: The Sacred Purification Ceremony in Bali — without a doubt. It helps people connect with the Balinese culture. That’s key if you want a true retreat experience.”
The ceremony is a sacred pause. A reminder that healing is not only inward, but also relational — to place, tradition, and land.
Your favorite part of the space?
“The river. Always the river. Just knowing it’s there, visible from the common areas… it’s magical.”
